A practical and logical study methodology that has been tested and approved by more than 500 teachers.
HOW CAN I HELP MY STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR PRONUNCIATION THE RIGHT WAY?
Pronunciation is known to be an overlooked area of English language teaching. That happens especially because teachers themselves feel more uncertain about pronunciation than about grammar or vocabulary, and feel that they don’t have enough technical knowledge to help their students appropriately.
The good news is that there is a study methodology that can help you learn the fundamentals of pronunciation teaching, which goes beyond memorizing phonetic symbols, guiding you through where and how sounds are formed, and giving you more confidence to help students with specific pronunciation problems.
PRONUNCIATION PROBLEMS ARE THE MAIN REASON WHY LEARNERS QUIT ENGLISH COURSES
According to Gilakjani (2011), in his study on the situation of pronunciation instruction in ESL/EFL classrooms, “many learners of English have major difficulties with English pronunciation even after years of learning the language”.
We all know that motivation plays an important role in the learning process, and when students are not helped and guided appropriately, they end up quitting the course or lessons because they don’t perceive progress in their pronunciation, or can’t recognize a sound that doesn’t exist in their first language.
Being able to help learners effectively is a skill that every teacher should develop. That includes an assessment of learners’ difficulties, an analysis of the interference from learners’ first language, and an action plan to teach pronunciation the right way.
A TESTED AND APPROVED METHODOLOGY
You need to understand that what really makes you learn how all English sounds are produced is not what you study about them, but how you do it! You need to follow a structure that will guide you from the principles of pronunciation teaching to how to work with English phonemes in your classes.

Together, these 4 pillars will help you understand, practice and apply everything related to English phonemes, and you will never have to skip pronunciation activities anymore.

MODULE 1 – Preparing the Perfect Environment
This is where we are going to prepare the ground for all the lessons to come. You shouldn’t skip this module because it’s here that you are going to get all initial instructions in order to take the most out of the course.
MODULE 2 – The Beginning of Everything
In this module, you will learn about the origin of everything here, the International Phonetic Alphabet. I will present the essential terminology that every pronunciation teacher has to know. You will also have a first contact with the famous Phonemic Chart and understand the arrangement of each sound on this chart, its variations and sounds that exist in English but are not in the chart.
MODULE 3 – The Wonders of the Mouth
In this module, you will be faced with consonant sounds, where and how they are formed and how you can help your students with more specific difficulties. It’s in this class that I’m going to talk about place and manner of articulation, and how they affect the production of sounds.
MODULE 4 – The Importance of the Tongue
In this module, you will take a closer look at vowel sounds, and I’ll talk about the importance of the tongue in the production of these sounds. By the way, in modules 3 and 4, you will also receive suggestions of activities to be used in class with your students.
MODULE 5 – Putting It All Together
In this module, we are going to consolidate all the topics seen in all previous modules. We will have a kind of big review about the main points of the course.
In all classes, you will have the opportunity to do interactive activities to practice the content, offering you immediate feedback.
